This life with you, sweet babies, is a gift
It truly is
The giggles
The hugs
The cuddles
The early mornings and middle of the night wake-ups
The cries and the whining and the copious amounts of stress, a gift, too
Lessons on patience and coping and perseverance
I'm thankful for it all
And here's your reminder to be grateful, mama
But, not just for the moments with your sweet little ones
Though yes, they are fleeting, so take it all in
But I know you don't need that reminder
I'd take it you realize your blessings and are maybe struggling on the other end
The end that makes your heart heavy when you snap from overstimulation
The side that brings guilt when you catch yourself daydreaming of an uninterrupted shower or meal
Of the days that were yours and yours, alone
But it's okay to know the moments of silence are a gift, as well
Time away
An evening on your own
New milestones of independence found by your little one
A long bath
A night away with your loved one
A trip with friends
A day spent without hands clinging to the end of your shirt which inevitably has stains of food and spit up
It's all good
It's all a gift
Both time spent with them and time spent a part
A gift to hold them
A gift to have space
A gift to cuddle them
A gift to miss them when you are away
This life with you, sweet babies, is a gift
And the life I had before and will have after you have families of your own is as well
I am grateful
